Who is eligible for an exemption on the Port Mann Bridge?

There are certain vehicles and drivers who are exempt from being charged the toll to cross the Port Mann Bridge. These categories of travelers are:

  • Emergency vehicles
  • Ambulances
  • BC Transit and TransLink vehicles
  • Passenger transportation pool vehicles
  • Taxis
  • Persons with disabilities.

What do I need to do to apply for a taxi, vanpool or persons with disabilities exemption?

For a taxi or vanpool exemption, please call TReO and a Customer Service Representative will be happy to help.

Do I need to renew my exempt status once approved?

Yes, taxi and vanpool exemptions need to be renewed annually. Persons with disabilities exemptions need to be renewed every 5 years. Please see here for more details.

Can I add other vehicles to my persons with disabilities exempt driver account?

No, you can only have one licence plate number exempt at any time. If you would like to change your exempt licence plate number, please call TReO and a Customer Service Representative will be happy to help.

How do I update my vehicle within my exempt driver account?

Please call TReO and a Customer Service Representative will be happy to help.

Do I need a decal in order to be exempt?

Yes, you must have a TReO decal installed in your vehicle in order to be exempt. If you do not have a decal, please call TReO and a Customer Service Representative will be happy to help.

 

If my vehicle is exempt on the Port Mann Bridge does this mean it’s exempt on the Golden Ears Bridge as well?

No, the Golden Ears Bridge is owned and operated by TransLink and the Port Mann Bridge is owned and operated by TI Corp, two separate authorities. TransLink runs the Golden Ears Bridge, and that includes setting toll rates, discounts and determining exemptions.

If my vehicle is exempt on the Port Mann Bridge but not on the Golden Ears Bridge will I receive a combined bill?

No, TReO and Quickpass have different exemption rules, so if your vehicle is exempt on the Port Mann Bridge you will not be eligible to receive a combined bill. Learn more about TReO or Quickpass exemptions. 

As a person with disabilities, if I crossed the bridge prior to receiving my exempt status can I get refunded?

No, the exemption is not retroactive. Tolls are only exempt after your application has been approved.
